Hello,

I'm Pierre-Emil, and together with my wife Solveig, we founded Merlinstruction. As parents and founders of Merlinstruction, we are deeply concerned about the current state of our education system. We believe it is failing our children. Focusing too heavily on rote learning and standardized testing, it teaches a series of disconnected trivia which don’t bring forth the value of knowledge, the connection it creates between the knower and the known, between the child and the world. Instead our children are growing up disconnected, their heads buried in digital devices, losing touch with the beauty of the natural world and the richness of their heritage.  We refuse to stand by and watch our children, and children everywhere, become alienated, their potential untapped, their lives devoid of purpose and self-mastery. 

We want something better for our children and this led us to take matters into our own hands. We wanted a system where every connection between learnings facilitates memory and allows for a deeper education into several different subjects at once. We went searching for teaching aids to help us solve this for our children, but we soon realized that while there were numerous teaching aids available, none were integrated with each other. 

Drawing inspiration from oral cultures' educational methods, both present and historical, we created the Family Time. It is a memory palace designed to hold and organize a vast body of interconnected knowledge. This integrated time management system not only manages household chores and personal growth milestones, but also serves as an organization of knowledge, adapted for all ages.

To ensure our children, and yours, can lead meaningful lives, deeply connected to their culture and environment, and become autonomous masters of their own destiny, not just cogs in the machine.
