Begin with the Family Time

Welcome to our guide, where we are excited to introduce you to the first steps in fully harnessing the potential of our Family Time kit. Designed to be the comprehensive and essential tool for every household, this set aims to strengthen your family framework and bonds while having fun. In this article, we guide you step by step, providing all the necessary links to familiarize yourself with the different components of the kit. Ready to get started?

Begin by separating all the tools: the Routinier, the Weekly Planner, the Habit Tracking Block, the Calendar, and the Lifeline Planner. Choose visible and daily places to install the different tools, such as a hallway, the kitchen, or the entrance, and stick them with mounting putty. For example, our Routine Planner and Weekly Planner are in our kitchen, while our Calendar and Life Line are in our hallway leading to our rooms.

Next, take the time to explore the activity cards as they allow you to customize your tools, involve the little ones, and beautifully showcase your family life. To avoid being overwhelmed by the number of cards, we recommend selecting or sorting the cards in this order:

1. Setup:
We recommend setting up one tool at a time and in this order. Go through the cards and select those that reflect your family life as it is currently, starting with the essentials.
  • Your annual Calendar: Place the Sun on today's date, annual celebrations like Christmas, Easter, and birthdays only.
  • Your individual Routine Planner: Arrange your routine as it already is for you, your partner, and your children.
  • Your Lifeline Planner: Each person selects a Sun to place on their line, then chooses cards that correspond to their life events. The Lifeline could be set up in a separate time, planning a Sunday afternoon to do it together.

For these three tools, your cards will move very little once set up; they serve as reference points for the whole family. These three supports allow for an initial retrospective on your family life.
  • Your individual Weekly Planner: With the remaining cards, you start visualizing your week, responsibilities, tasks, and outings. Keep handy the cards that are not immediately useful but maybe tomorrow or next week, either by sticking them next to your Weekly Planner or in an envelope or a small box nearby.
  • Your Habit Tracking: With all your supports in place, you begin to have a certain vision of your family life and personal life. What aspects do you want to improve?
These two tools require a bit more reflection on your daily life and needs.

2. Usage:
Your tools are in place, and you start using them together with your children. We recommend referring to the tools in the morning and evening. If there are changes to be made, they will come gradually, as the use itself will highlight any minor dysfunctions that you will be happy to discuss with your partner or child :)

Also, once the tools are in place, you can gradually add more cards. It is normal for the kit to seem intimidating at first. After a few weeks of use, you will embrace it as a daily support with your partner and children. Remember, integrating a routine is a matter of habit and regularity. If you stray from the tools for a few days, it can be the perfect opportunity to assess whether their placement in your home or your current organization suits you.

We recommend reading the following articles to gradually familiarize yourself with the use of the different tools. We share valuable tips based on the age of your family members, both the little ones and the older ones.

We hope this guide will be helpful in starting to use your Family Time box. We wish you an easy and pleasant setup of this set in your home.
